Enjoy Mother's Day weekend with your mom at the Grand Canyon, discover scenic hikes in Sedona, and explore the city of Flagstaff and Grand Canyon Village. Mother-Daughter Retreats include curated activities, guided experiences, and quality time in scenic landscapes - we can't wait to see you there!
This 3-night trip in Flagstaff, Arizona is a beginner level trip that can accommodate 18 people.
Accommodation:
There is one large lodge/home reserved for this trip with 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms located on a 1-acre property. Each bedroom has a different configuration of beds - you may register for your preferred sleeping arrangement via our booking platform. Please note that room arrangements are primarily based on a Mother-Daughter pair. The lodging reserved for this trip is located in Flagstaff, Arizona - about a 2.5 hour drive from Phoenix. Participants should be prepared for some driving/commuting over the course of the weekend to reach the hikes and activities planned in the itinerary.
Trip Activities + Difficulty Level:
This is a Beginner level trip - the hikes planned are easy and can be done by participants with limited hiking experience.
Itinerary highlights include:
Full Day of hiking and exploring Red Rocks in Sedona
Full Day in the Grand Canyon, scenic drive along the rim of the canyon
Exploring Grand Canyon village and small towns of Flagstaff and Sedona
Note 1: Ma'wa itineraries may be subject to slight changes throughout the weekend due to delays, weather, or factors outside of our control.
Note 2: All Ma'wa Collective trips are considered group trips - as a participant, you will be expected to remain with your group at all times. Participants are not permitted to leave the group and engage in activities outside the published itinerary. Any participant found in violation of this may be subject to dismissal from the trip and/or future Ma'wa Collective trips.
Sohad Khafagy
Trip Lead
Sohad Khafagy is an Egyptian artist, teacher, and former medical doctor. She moved to the US over 30 years ago and has been an active member in the Muslim community as a Girl Scout leader at the MCA Santa Clara and principal at the Islamic Community Center of Redlands where she has organized annual summer camps. She raised 3 girls in California and frequently organized weekend family camps in Lake Tahoe and Yosemite for Muslim families in the Bay Area. She is a seasoned Ma'wa Collective Trip Lead, having led all the previous Mother-Daughter Retreats in Yosemite and Seqouia, and more recently has become the Lead for our Ma'wa Mamas experiences.
