Located north of the Bay Area and off of the iconic Highway 1 is the charming town of Westport, CA. This quaint and quiet community in Northern California is perfectly situated between the ocean and the mountains, lending itself to excursions on the beach and scenic hikes through Humboldt State Park. Participants will enjoy exploring nearby trails, fern canyons, waterfalls, and much more!

This 4-day, 3-night trip in Westport, CA is an intermediate level group trip that can accommodate 18 people.

Accommodation:

There are 6 cabins reserved for this trip, and each cabin can fit 3 people (1 single bed and 1 bunk bed - you may register for your preferred sleeping arrangement via our booking platform). Cabins are equipped with beds, but participants will need to bring their own bedding materials (sleeping bag, pillows, blankets, etc.).

There are no bathrooms inside the cabins, bathrooms are located on the campsite and are communal.

Trip Activities + Difficulty Level:

This is an Intermediate Level trip. The hikes planned are moderately challenging and will require participants to bring hiking boots - we recommend participants either have some hiking experiences or have a strong fitness level to complete 5+ mile hikes through varying terrain.

Itinerary highlights include:

  • Humboldt State Park, Bull Creek South Trail

  • Hike to Russian Gulch State Park

  • Point Cabrillo Lighthouse

  • Black Sand Beach

  • Ft. Braggs Glass Beach

Note: All Ma'wa Collective trips are considered group trips - as a participant, you will be expected to remain with your group at all times. Participants are not permitted to leave the group and engage in activities outside the published itinerary. Any participant found in violation of this may be subject to dismissal from the trip and/or future Ma'wa Collective trips.

Fadwa Bouhedda

Trip Lead

Based out of the Bay Area, Fadwa brings her passion for the oceans, mountains and environment to life through recreation. She is an avid hiker, scuba diver, and a coffee connoisseur and when not outdoors can be found watching a good Attenborough documentary. Fadwa's always positive attitude and her enthusiasm for nature, helps make any trip with her in the outdoors an enjoyable one.

What's Included

  • Trip registration includes lodging, food, and activities throughout the weekend.

  • Transportation to the trip location is not covered by Ma'wa Collective. While we can assist with connecting you to other participants for carpools, it is the responsibility of participants to do their due diligence to check on travel logistics before signing up for the trip. This includes checking flight availability and pricing if you are not local to the area. 

    • If you will be flying in for this trip, we recommend flying into the Bay Area (SFO, SJC, or OAK): arrival must be no later than 12pm on Friday, September 20th, and departure no earlier than 3pm on Monday, September 23rd

    • If you will be driving to the trip location, we will assist with arranging carpools from the Bay area
